Discover rewilding, off-grid, hand-hewn log home, sheep to wool products, Scottish highland cow, ducks, great Pyrenese farm dog, orchard, and organic gardens. Programs are about an hour and a half centered on your interests. Children are especially welcome! $100 for up to ten participants. Please reserve before coming to the farm. Thank you!
September 2021 Farm Stay in Wilding Village
Stay overnight in a small cabin in the woods and immerse yourself in nature and life on Wild Roots Farm
The Wilding Village is a lovely collection of cabins in the woods a quarter-mile from the road on Wild Roots Farm. Originally built as intern homes they are now home to our immersion program participants and farm stay guests. These quiet houses are nestled above fern gully and are walking distance from the homestead, gardens and animals. ​​Click the button below to ​​learn more about the cabins you will sleep in and activities available during your farm stay.
Wooly Days
From the field to the clothes. Â Visit and play with the sheep. Help to hand card wool, witness hand spinning. Experiment with wool felting. And walk away with a better understanding of the process from the sheep to the sweater.
Cooking With Fire
Witness cooking with fire. Connect with the old tradition of gathering around a wood fired hearth. Learn about the outdoor wood fired community bake oven on Wild Roots Farm, from the garden to the plate and what does it take.
Foraging and Feasting
Harvest wild greens. Learn how to identify and forage for wild edibles in the forest and the garden.
Nature Day
Take a forrest walk. Explore the 100 acres of land and adventure to rock ledges, porcupine caves and through hemlock forest.
The Art Of Nature
Explore the peaceful natural world with observation and art. Adventure through the woods to sketch, photograph, paint and take in the natural surroundings.
Get Your Feet Wet
Pond exploration and water blessing with flowers. Caring for our water together.
Connect With The Magic
Building fairy houses. Explore your child self. Adventure through the woods while learning about the land, little people and magic of the Catskills!
Making Makeup With Iris
Learn to make your own natural makeup. Take home a tube of lip balm or lip gloss and look beautiful knowing what ingredients are in your products.
Camp Visits
We offer local camps and school groups an opportunity to visit and allow kids to learn about sustainability, food and the natural world. Use of the outdoor bake oven is available upon request.
